Prof. Xiao-Ping (Steven) Zhang

Xiao-Ping (Steven) Zhang received B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Tsinghua University, in 1992 and 1996, respectively, both in Electronic Engineering. He holds an MBA in Finance, Economics and Entrepreneurship with Honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Chicago, IL.  Dr. Zhang is Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada, Fellow of the IEEE, a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario, Canada, and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. He is the general co-chair for 2021 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing (ICASSP2021). He is the general co-chair for 2017 GlobalSIP Symposium on Signal and Information Processing for Finance and Business, and the general co-chair for 2019 GlobalSIP Symposium on Signal, Information Processing and AI for Finance and Business. He is an elected member of IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo (ICME) steering committee. He is the general chair for MMSP2015. He is the publicity co-chair for ICME'06 and founding program co-chair for ICIC2005. He has served as guest editor for the Multimedia Tools and Applications Journal. He is a tutorial speaker in ACM Multimedia 2011 (ACMMM2011), 2013 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS2013), 2013 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP2013), ICASSP2014, 2017 International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN 2017) and ISCAS2019. He is Senior Area Editor for IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing and IEEE Transactions on Image Processing. He served as Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, IEEE Transactions on Multimedia, IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, and IEEE Signal Processing Letters. He received 2020 Sarwan Sahota Ryerson Distinguished Scholar Award – the Ryerson University highest honor for scholarly, research and creative achievements. He is selected as an IEEE Signal Processing Society Distinguished Lecturer for the term from January 2020 to December 2021, and an IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Distinguished Lecturer for the term 2021 to 2022.  He is the Vice Chair (Chair-Elect) of Image, Video, and Multidimensional Signal Processing Technical Committee (IVMSP TC) for the term 2020-2021, an elected member of Multimedia Signal Processing Technical Committee (MMSP TC), Industry DSP Technology Standing Committee (IDSP SC), Signal Processing Theory and Methods Technical Committee (SPTM TC) and Sensor Array and Multichannel Technical Committee (SAM TC) of IEEE Signal Processing Society. He is an elected member of Visual Signal Processing and Communications Technical Committee (VSPC TC), System and Applications Technical Committee (MSA TC), and Digital Signal Processing Technical Committee (DSP TC) of IEEE Circuits and Systems Society.

Prof.  Hayato Yamana

Hayato YAMANA received his Dr. Eng. degree at Waseda University in 1993. He began his career at the Electrotechnical Laboratory (ETL) of the former Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), and was seconded to MITI's Machinery and Information Industries Bureau for a year in 1996. He was subsequently appointed Associate Professor of Computer Science at Waseda University in 2000, and has been a professor since 2005. From 2003 to 2004, he was IEEE Computer Society Japan Chapter Chair. Since 2015, he has been director of IPSJ (Information Processing Society of Japan) and vice chairman of information and communication society of IEICE (the institute of electronics, information and communication engineers). At Waseda University, he has been deputy Deputy Chief Information Officer and WasedaX project director since 2015. His research area is big data analysis. Currently, his group engages in Japanese government funded project called “Secure Data Sharing and Distribution Platform for Integrated Big Data Utilization - Handling all data with encryption.”

Prof. Zhiyue  BO 

Executive Deputy Dean of New Era Development Research Institute, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, China


Professor Zhiyue Bo, a leading authority on Chinese elite politics in the world, is Director of the New Zealand Contemporary China Research Centre and Professor of Political Science at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.He has taught at Peking University, Roosevelt University, the University of Chicago, American University, St. John Fisher College, Tarleton State University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the National University of Singapore, and Victoria University of Wellington. He is the inaugural holder of the Joe and Theresa Long Endowed Chair in Social Sciences at Tarleton State University, Visiting Distinguished Professor at Shanghai Jiaotong University, and Chair Professor at both National Chengchi University and National Taiwan University.


His research interests are Chinese politics, Chinas political economy, and Chinas global strategies. He has published 197 book chapters and articles and 10 books. His most recent books include China-US Relations in Global Perspective (2016) (edited) and Chinas Political Dynamics under Xi Jinping (2016).Professor BO is a popular public speaker. He has been invited to give major scholarly presentations at Oxford University, Harvard University, Columbia University, the University of Chicago, Northwestern University, Aerhus University, Free University of Berlin, Charles University in Prague, University of Rome “La Sapienza,” Istituto per gli Studi di Politica Internazionale (ISPI), Vrije Universiteit Brussel, University of Leuven, Sciences Po, Copenhagen Business School, Lund University, the Institute for Security and Development Policy in Stockholm, University of Turku, the University of Hamburg, Western Carolina University, Tarleton State University, the National University of Singapore, and the National Press Club of the United States, as well as many universities in China and Oceania. He is also a renowned consultant for government agencies and business organizations. He has briefed government leaders and senior diplomats in Singapore, Thailand, Russia, the Netherlands, France, South Korea, Taiwan, China, the European Commission, and New Zealand as well as business leaders in the United States, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Europe.Professor BO has been frequently interviewed by international media such as BBC, ABC, CNBC, New York Times, Washington Post, Reuters, the Guardian, the Times, and Bloomberg. He is the winner of the “most quoted by Western media prize” on Chinas leadership transition.

Professor Qin He, School of Labor Economics, Capital University of Economics and Business. He is mainly engaged in the research of artificial intelligence and labor employment, platform-based flexible employment, organizational innovation and human resource management changes in the digital economy, and corporate labor relations.

Prof. Adrian Hopgood  

University of Porstmouth, UK


Adrian Hopgood is Full Professor of Intelligent Systems and Director of Future & Emerging Technologies at the University of Portsmouth in the UK. He is also a visiting professor at the Open University and at Sheffield Hallam University. He is a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the BCS (the Chartered Institute for IT), and a committee member for the BCS Specialist Group on Artificial Intelligence.

Professor Hopgood has extensive experience in both academia and industry. He has worked at the level of Dean and Pro Vice-Chancellor in four universities in the UK and overseas, and has enjoyed scientific roles with Systems Designers (now part of Hewlett-Packard) and the Telstra Research Laboratories in Australia.

His main research interests are in artificial intelligence and its practical applications. He has supervised 19 PhD projects to completion and published more than 100 research articles. His text book "Intelligent Systems for Engineers and Scientists” has been published in three editions and is ranked as a bestseller.
